I am feeling crappy today. Achy, tired, headache. Been taking meds all day without relief. I really hate days like these! Going lie down.

Joie du vivre!

I am Cajun. One of the things about Cajuns is their "joie du vivre" or "Joy of Life". Everything's a party or an excuse to celebrate. I never really thought about it until one day my neighbor said something about it to me. "You always seem to be celebrating something!" My answer to her was "Well, I guess its the Cajun "joie du vivre," joy of life." I remember going to visit my Cajun relatives in South Louisiana and it would be the middle of the week and we'd just go down for the day, and there was always a big dinner, a big gathering, and a BIG cake and strong coffee for dessert! These are some of my fondest memories. It made you feel special that everyone went to all this trouble because you came to visit. But it wasn't "a lot of trouble", it was just the way these people were. My Cajun relatives. I hope to carry this onto my daughters. And I guess I have!
